Learn about successful models for 1:1 and/or BYOD device programs and explore what is next for ubiquitous access to technology in K-12 schools.

Purpose

21st Century Schools recognize that ubiquitous access to technology is a key success factor for enabling contemporary pedagogies and modern learning environments.

Overview

The K-12 1:1/BYOD Symposium is a cutting-edge, 2.5-hour online event designed to explore the dynamic landscape of 1:1 computing and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies in K-12 education. Recent years have reenergized the conversations educators, administrators, and IT professionals are having around the challenges and opportunities schools face when adopting and implementing 1:1 & BYOD programs. This symposium brings together thought leaders and practitioners to discuss best practices, share success stories, and unpack the complexities of integrating and leveraging technology for deeper learning.

Attendees will be the first to learn the results of a survey of international schools’ use of technology as well as engage with a range of sessions offering, from deployment and management of devices to ensuring equity and access for all students. The symposium aims to provide a variety of perspectives, tools, strategies and approaches to 1:1 and BYOD. Doing so equips participants with the knowledge to implement and support these initiatives in their schools more effectively.

This symposium will catalyze innovation and transformation in K-12 education, empowering attendees to make informed decisions and take actionable steps toward a more connected and personalized learning environment.

Why Now?

1:1 computing is one of the original “educational technologies,” with the first 1:1 laptop programs taking place in Australia more than 30 years ago. However, we know that it is also true that many schools are only just embracing this computing paradigm now, and schools that have programs in place always need to review their program. So whether 1:1/BYOD is something to consider for your school or if you have a mature program, this symposium should be a great window into 1:1 programs that work.
