This session explores how to lead technology initiatives in alignment with whole-school strategy, vision, and governance structures. Participants will examine the unique leadership dynamics of international schools and learn how to influence decision-making at the highest levels. Emphasis is placed on long-term planning, relationship-building, and context-aware leadership.

Session 2: Educational Technology Integration

This session focuses on integrating technology to improve learning outcomes and student agency through sound pedagogy, inclusive design, and data-informed practices. We’ll examine ways technology can support differentiation, empower personalized learning, and create adapted learning experiences for all students. Participants will use current frameworks to evaluate tech use and design impactful professional learning. The session encourages a strategic approach to empowering educators and scaling innovation sustainably.

Day 2: Operations

Session 3: Infrastructure Management

Participants will develop a working knowledge of school IT systems, including networks, software, artificial intelligence, devices, and data flow. The session emphasizes how technical decisions, systems selection, and effective integration directly impact teaching, learning, and school operations. Through practical analysis and scenario planning, attendees will build capacity for creating robust, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure.

Session 4: Security and Risk Management

This session addresses cybersecurity, data privacy, and risk management from both technical and leadership perspectives. Participants will assess threats, design mitigation strategies, and consider the legal and cultural nuances of international school environments. The goal is to cultivate a proactive and ethical approach to digital safety.

Day 3: People

Session 5: Team Leadership

Focusing on people leadership, this session equips participants to lead multicultural, cross-functional teams in complex school environments. Topics include communication, conflict resolution, and fostering collaboration between IT and instructional staff. Participants will strengthen their ability to build trust and lead through influence, not just authority.

Session 6: Project Management and Change Leadership

This session provides tools and strategies for executing large-scale technology initiatives within budget, time, and organizational constraints. Participants will explore project planning, change management, design & system thinking, effective communication, vendor relations, and resource allocation. The emphasis is on leading impactful change that aligns with strategic goals and gains stakeholder buy-in.

Building a Talent Pipeline for Tech Leaders

The school IT leader in a school is uniquely positioned to help senior leadership, and the governing body understand the implications of tech trends on learning, work, and human relations.

In most schools, technology leaders rise from two main tracks:

  • EdTech professionals, with strong instructional backgrounds but limited technical oversight experience
  • IT staff, with deep systems knowledge but little exposure to teaching and learning

Few schools can recruit externally for seasoned talent—and even when they do, new hires often struggle to adapt to school culture. The result? Leadership gaps, imbalanced teams, and structures built around individuals instead of strategic needs.

This certification addresses the gap—intentionally growing the next generation of tech leaders from within the international school ecosystem.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Certified as a Level 1 International School Technology Leader
  • Digital Badge + Email Signature Graphic
