I think all learning should be student centered and thus digital pedagogies should be authentic, with real life application, reflecting student voice, leadership and giving them a sense of ownership in their learning journey. I have a Digital Leaders Committee of students grade 6-12 that advise the use and implementation of digital technologies, as well as driving and designing whole school collaboration through edutech. The results are that we have engaging events that represent the student view and staff design courses that meet student needs.

Hilary is a New Zealander working at the Victorian International School of Sharjah in the UAE. She had previously worked as a Head of Faculty of Languages and National French Examiner in New Zealand. She has taught from K-12 in Taiwan, and lectured at Université Paris IV-La Sorbonne in France. Hilary has a Masters of Arts (French), and completed a Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning, where she focused on implementing effective international mindedness capabilities in classroom teaching. She has graduate qualifications in Secondary Teaching, Digital Learning and Teaching Foreign Language. She is currently working towards a Doctorate in Education, which explores cultural and relational pedagogy. Hilary is a passionate teacher-mentor and believes that all students should be able to determine their own pathway to educational success. She is a strong voice for student-centric education and research based effective practice. She is an ISTE certified teacher, an Apple Teacher and Microsoft Innovative Educator, and works with teachers to ensure that their physical and online classrooms are modern, future focused learning environments.
